Hello Everyone,

Just recently I gave a trial lesson to three elementary school children.
To make it fun and interesting, I planned various activities where the
children could participate. However, one mother came to observed the
class. Conscious of the mother's presence the children got very shy
and couldn't participate well. I was glad that at the end they still wanted
to study and signed up for a lesson.

Question is, what's the best way to prevent the situation from happening
again during a trial lesson? Any advice will be much appreciated. Thank
you very much. I hope to hear from anyone soon.

Sincerely yours,
Ethel

Hello Ethel,

Thank you very much for writing it caught my attention and wanted to through some of my personal funny experience.

As far as my trial lesson is concerned, the parents are always setting-side with their kids 1-4 people in one table with different ages and levels. The parents are watching ,commenting and feeding answers sometimes I ask the moms to keep their mouth shout or else you better teach your kids at your home I said. then a moment of silence begun.

The guardians are my very inspiration to perform well to the best of my ability to let them sign-up after all.

The children varies from different types. Some needs the parents assistance and presence some are over - shy that even to open their mouth is difficult being watch by parents.
Personally it's better to ask your guest which one they wanted to prefer for a trial lesson with a chaperon or alone???

Perhaps Gordon Olsen the moderator can share some of his ideas Gordon has been teaching to Kids in Japan for over 20 years.

I have to go now,
